Staring mid November, city of Tokyo becomes colorful decorated by red and yellow leaves of maple and ginkyo trees. It is such a pleasant time of the year to walk around while stepping on the crispy autumn leaves.
Atutumn foliage will peak around late November until early December so make sure to plan your trip around that time!
There are many places to enjoy this beautiful time of the year but here are recommended spots that you can visit if you are in Tokyo this fall!
Meiji-jingu Gaien (明治神宮外苑)
Enjoy the walk under the yellow tunnel of 146 ginkyo trees lined up along the road. Two rows of ginkyo tree lines up neatly for 300m leading up to Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery and offers a photogenic view.

From November 18 – December 5, you can also enjoy Ginkyo festival where you can try some local food from the stalls.

Rikugien (六義園)
Rikugien offers beautiful scenery every season but autumn is one of the best times to visit. Located in the middle of Tokyo, it is an oasis for those living and working in Tokyo. Maple trees are planted around the garden and you can enjoy the beautiful red leaves as you walk around.
Rikugien is unique in a sense that you can enjoy the light up of those maple trees. Come and experience the romantic night out with your loved ones.

Hibiya Park (日比谷公園)
At Hibiya park, the maple trees spread over the water and the reflection of those colorful leaves on the water is just beautiful.

Koishikawa Korakuen (小石川後楽園)
Koishikawa Korakuen is also an oasis in the middle of the city. The pond is centrally located and the beautiful trees surround it to offer graceful scenery.

There is a bridge going over Ooiga river which replicates the scenery from Arashiyama, Kyoto. Get your camera out and capture the beautifully designed garden at Koishikawa Korakuen.
